Week of Oct. 31~

On Monday October 31st the grade 8s will be attending a dance in the afternoon.  There will be a concession at the dance.

At lunch, hot dogs will be on sale for $2 outside the foods room

 We are starting our Expository Writing Unit--Our first topic is "Bullying" This week we will be working on thesis statements and organizing our essay.

We have started the unit The Fall of the Roman Empire -- Next week we will be making connections to the U.SA--The election is a hot topic in class!

There will a be a test on Friday  Students will get a study guide on Monday and a review class on Wednesday.  The test will cover:

• communication and travel in ancient times
• how historians study history (primary and secondary sources)
• the fall of Rome

This week we started our ER Verbs Unit.  There will be a short quiz on conjugating ER Verbs on Friday.

On Friday, October 14 we will take a closer look at mapping in ancient times and students will be assigned a "Map Your Neighbourhood" Assignment.

 On Friday Oct. 14, students will be assigned a "Seasons Poster"  incorporating much of the vocabulary we have been studying including definite and indefinite articles (le, la, les & un, une, des)

We have started the Unit Expanding Horizon--Transportation and Communication in the Roman Empire.

On Wednesday we will be doing a group work--discussing WHO and WHY people travelled in Ancient times.

We will also be taking a closer look at some key inventions that made travel easier!

French 8-4

We will be meeting in the Chrome Book Lab for Wednesday's class.

We will finish our "The Basics Unit"  and take some time to prepare for a  quiz on Friday, October 7.
 The quiz will include salutations, numbers, days of the week, and months.
